Frequently Asked Questions

I’ve never done yoga before, will the classes be suitable for beginners?

We have classes and courses suitable for beginners in both aerial and mat yoga. These are a great place to start building confidence. Contact us to discuss which one is most suited to your intentions. If a class environment seems too daunting, we also offer private tuition to start you on your yoga journey.

I’d love to take up Yoga but I’m not physically fit or flexible. What should I do?

Yoga is for everybody and we pride ourselves on being a warm and welcoming studio which caters to all students irrespective of ability. The studio has a supportive culture and we would urge you to take the first step and either attend a class or speak to one of our instructors. “The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.” Lao Tzu

Is there car parking at The Yoga Barn?

Yes, we have plenty of car parking spaces directly outside the entrance. Please follow the signs directing you to the parking area.

What do I wear to a Yoga class?

General Yoga Classes:

Being comfortable is the most important thing in Yoga. Gym type clothing is ideal for more dynamic classes such as Vinyasa or Aerial. For Restorative and Yin classes you may want to wear warm, loose fitting clothing if that feels more comfortable. All shoes will need to be removed before entering the studio.

Aerial Yoga:

  • Wear a long sleeved top or T shirt that covers your armpits (the silk can rub under bare arms and also for hygiene reasons)

  • Avoid overly loose clothing

  • Avoid any zips on clothing

  • Remove all jewellery

  • Socks with grips are encouraged

I have never tried Aerial Yoga before, how do I know if it is for me?

Inverting is one of the key benefits to aerial yoga. The use of the hammock can make this more accessible for many people. Because of this key element, Aerial Yoga is not suitable for people with any of the following contraindications:

  • High (or very low) blood pressure

  • Vertigo

  • Glaucoma or detached retina

  • Coronary disease

  • Prosthetic joint

  • Spinal surgery

  • Pregnant women

  • Recent surgery

  • Stroke

  • Osteoprosis

It is advisable to arrive 5 mins prior to the schedules class time. There may be classes finishing as you arrive so please be mindful of noise levels if you are waiting in reception. If there is another class on just before yours, please avoid arriving too early as there is limited space in the waiting area.
